Jesus Christ Essay
Curley, Iââ¬â¢m writing this letter cause for a long time Iââ¬â¢ve been wanting to tell ya somethinââ¬â¢. When we married I knew from the firsââ¬â¢ day that you werenââ¬â¢t any good for me, from the firsââ¬â¢ day of our marriage I disliked you. Anââ¬â¢ you know why, cause youââ¬â¢re nothinââ¬â¢ then jusââ¬â¢ a dirty ranch man, who can think onââ¬â¢y bout fighting and goin to have a shot offa corn inââ¬â¢a closest bar. Yaââ¬â¢r nothinââ¬â¢ better than other ranch workers, who get them 50 bucks at the end offa month anââ¬â¢ go to spend alla of ââ¬â¢em inââ¬â¢a brothel or forââ¬â¢a whiskey to get God damn drunk. I cnââ¬â¢t see any littââ¬â¢ difference between you and them, anââ¬â¢ thereââ¬â¢s no difference. Every week ya go to a bar anââ¬â¢ come back God damn drunk at late night. How do you think I feel then bout you? But everââ¬â¢thing has a limit. You know, if not my olââ¬â¢ lady Iââ¬â¢d have gone to Hollywood anââ¬â¢ prolly I coulda find that man who promised me to take me in movie. Yes he saââ¬â¢ that Iââ¬â¢m natural, and if not my olââ¬â¢ lady then Iââ¬â¢d never be livinââ¬â¢ with ya in this God damn place, I coulda been in the movies, anââ¬â¢ had nice clothes ââ¬â all of them nice clothes like they wear. Anââ¬â¢ I coulda set in them big hotels, anââ¬â¢ had pitchers took me. But whatta I got ââ¬â Iââ¬â¢ve gotta husbanââ¬â¢, a swell guy. Anââ¬â¢ alla time I have to listen how heââ¬â¢d ââ¬Å"use the olââ¬â¢ one-two to make him go downâ⬠. And all I can do is jusââ¬â¢ to set in your God damn ranch anââ¬â¢ talk to a bunch of bindle stiffs. Iââ¬â¢m dying from loneliness, Curley. Anââ¬â¢ plus, when ya come home you starta talk about fighting again, youââ¬â¢re almost like fighting cock to me. You never care bout me, about how I felt and never try to make me feel better. Instead ya do opposite ââ¬â ya tell me to set in your God damn two-by-four house, anââ¬â¢ do nothinââ¬â¢. But do you think that I like to stick in it alla time?.. But, Jesus Christ, if you see me outside you get so damn angry as somebody stole somethinââ¬â¢ from you, anââ¬â¢ alla your anger you put on me. For what? What have I done to you?.. Youââ¬â¢re worse than an animal. Anââ¬â¢ what about yer hanââ¬â¢, stuck inââ¬â¢a machine, ah? Yeah, baloney! Youââ¬â¢re a pathetic loser. Finally youââ¬â¢ve been shown that you ainââ¬â¢t the strongest. Anââ¬â¢ Iââ¬â¢m so thankful to that fella Lennie for doing it to ya. But why didnââ¬â¢ you use yer ââ¬Å"olââ¬â¢ one ââ¬â twoâ⬠, not tough enough. Anââ¬â¢ why didnââ¬â¢ you ever fought with someone like Slim? What, was there no reason to, but youââ¬â¢re wrong there was anââ¬â¢ you knew it. You knew that there was somepââ¬â¢in between ââ¬Ëim anââ¬â¢ me, but you was too scared to admit it, you was too scared to say a single word against Slim. It makes you such a loser, Curley. Aw God! Iââ¬â¢m so fed up with you, Curley, if you could onââ¬â¢y understand how much. But I guess that I shouldnââ¬â¢t worry any more, cause I leave you, yes Curley I leave you. Iââ¬â¢m gonna go to make my own life. Iââ¬â¢ll prolly go to Hollywood and find the man. Course youââ¬â¢ll think that Iââ¬â¢m outa my mind, but I ainââ¬â¢t. I ainââ¬â¢t gonna waste the rest of my life in your God damn ranch, rot there yourself! I wish you to rot in your damn place. Go on, go to brothel, drink, have a game of euchre, but Iââ¬â¢m gonna be far away from you. Have a nice life! Your former wife.
